Closing in on California
This last section had so. many. baby. frogs. Here’s a video of me trying to not step on the baby frogs that carpeted the trail. Experience the baby frog joy!
I’ve been meaning to write about this for a while now. Day hikers smell so good. Showering once a week has made my nose hypersensitive to clean people. Mmm, Herbal Essences.

Water has been getting harder to come by lately in this dry section, which means we’re carrying more water for longer distances. If water is clear, why is it so heavy? Am I the only one who found that funny? Also, massive thanks to the trail angels who are keeping water caches filled and saving our backs.

I’m currently enjoying laying in my first bed in 21 days. We camped just outside of Fish Lake last night, hitched in to Medford this morning, ate Chipotle (oh god, that giant burrito was too much food at once for the 6 snacks a day that my stomach is currently used to) and did some shopping at REI, then caught a bus to a motel in Ashland. Evan’s knee started acting up yesterday and was even worse this morning, so he’s at a clinic getting it checked out. Luckily we were camped very close to the road last night, so we were able to hitch out without much walking. Fingers crossed that he heals up soon and we can get back out on the trail within a few days. But for now, I’m really enjoying eating pizza in bed.

Once we get back out, we’ll have less than 20 miles to go until we hit the Oregon/California border. California is only 1700 miles long.
Love the little froggies! Hope Evan’s knee gets better fast!
So CUTE!!!
Squee baby frogs !!!
Cutie frogglings! Thanks for the updates. It’s like we are on the journey with you, in some way. Wow that water yuck. Yay for trail angles! That forest fire debris… eerie, but also hopeful for the coming of the growth one day. May Evan’s knee heal up swift and complete, glad
he is taking care to attend to it. Well done, you’ve covered so much terrain. Rooting for you both onwards !
